Meet our LGD’s !
Our Livestock Guardian Dogs ( LGD’s) are the heart and soul of the farm. They not only provide guardianship over our beloved goat herd but they have also taken on the roles of protecting our feathered flock as well as all of our ponies ! Kiara and Rhett offer the sweetest personalities you could find on an LGD - they love their humans as much as they love their jobs. Both dogs are fearless protectors of their 2 and 4 legged family and we owe them so much for keeping us safe.
Breeding quality LGD’s who are loyal and loving family dogs who know their job and do it exceptionally well is our goal here. We have found two amazing dogs to base our breeding program off of and are super proud of the first litter they produced in spring of 2022.
Kiara ( dam) was purchased from our friends at McDreamers Meadow Farm. Kiara is 100% Great Pyrenees and is from working parents who are also from working stock. Kiara required little to no training at all- she knew her job from day one. Kiara is with the herd 24/7 and only barks if there is a threat. She’s the sweetest and most loving girl - loves her pets and belly rubs. She is also a glorified baby goat babysitter come kidding season and absolutely loves watching after her herd.
Rhett ( sire ) was purchased from Washington from a working farm , from working stock on a very large farm. He is Great Pyrenees/ Anatolian Shepherd mix. He’s quite large in stature , getting his height from the Anatolian side of him. He’s absolutely gorgeous with the best temperament. Rhett lives in our home and is our fearless protector. He spends most his days outside with me. He also only barks if there is a threat inside or outside. He has ran off a pack of coyotes multiple times already and also takes great pride in protecting our chickens / duck/ Turkey from outside predators. We haven’t lost a single feathered friend since Rhett has started protecting the yard. I sleep better at night knowing he is on guard.
